Breaking Fear and Anxiety: A Devotional Based on Hebrews

Scripture:

"So we say with confidence, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?’" – Hebrews 13:6

Reflection:

Fear and anxiety often creep into our lives, distorting our perspective and clouding our faith. They whisper lies of inadequacy, uncertainty, and danger, pulling our focus away from God’s promises. Yet, the book of Hebrews reminds us that our confidence isn’t found in our circumstances but in the unchanging character of God.

Hebrews points us to Jesus, our High Priest and mediator, who has faced every trial and overcome. He understands our struggles and walks with us, giving us strength to face each day. The author of Hebrews encourages us to hold fast to our faith, knowing that God is faithful to His promises. When fear and anxiety threaten to overwhelm, we can declare boldly: "The Lord is my helper."

By trusting in His power, we break free from the chains of fear, stepping into the peace and courage that come from knowing He is in control.

Prayer:

Lord, You are my helper and my refuge. When fear and anxiety rise, remind me of Your steadfast love and promises. Help me to fix my eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of my faith, and to trust in Your perfect plan for my life. Strengthen me to face each day with boldness, knowing You are always with me. Amen.

Action Step:

Meditate on Hebrews 13:6 today. Write down three specific fears or anxieties you’ve been holding onto. Surrender them to God in prayer, and as you do, declare His promise: “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.” Trust that He is working in your life, even in the unseen.

Encouragement:

Hebrews reminds us that God never leaves us or forsakes us (Hebrews 13:5). Let this truth anchor you when fear arises. The One who holds the universe in His hands is holding you, too. Step forward in faith, knowing His love casts out all fear.
